Stand development, revisited

After a summer of semi-stand development in Rodinal 1:100 I finally have a routine that keeps highlights under control on sunny days. One gentle inversion at the half-hour mark seems to be the sweet spot for 400-speed film.

Cleaning a hazy 50mm

The rear group came apart with a rubber jar opener and a lot of patience. Most of the haze was on the inner surface; a drop of diluted ammonia and a microfiber cloth did the rest.

Notes on scanning negatives with a camera

A light pad, a copy stand and a macro lens beat my old flatbed in every way except convenience. The trick is keeping the film perfectly flat.
